TOURIST SPOTS - CENTRAL ASIA
1. Palace of peace and harmony - Astana, Kazakhstan
The Palace of Peace and Harmony is a 77 m high pyramid type building in Astana. This beautifully structured building is visible from the both coasts of Ishim. It is constructed to host the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. Also, it hosts a 1,500-seat opera house built at the lower level.
2. Bayterek Tower - Astana, Kazakhstan
The Bayterek Tower is a 105m-high monument and an observation tower that become the symbol of the capital of Kazakhstan. It has an observation desk at 97m height which symbolizes the year when the capital of the country was moved from Almaty to Astana.
3. The White House - Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
The White House is the presidential office building in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The White House was the site of riots during both the 2005 Tulip Revolution and the 2010 Kyrgyzstani riots. During the 2010 riots a fire broke out and damaged portions of the building and destroyed the hard copies of many government records.
4. The Friendship Monument - Kyrgyzstan
The Friendship Monument is located in a small square bearing the same name. It dates back to the Soviet era. According to some, this monument was founded in 1974 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the USSR. Others claim it was created for the 100th anniversary of Kyrgyz joining the Russian Empire.
5. Alauddin Lakes - Tajikistan
The Alauddin Lakes is a beautiful lake basin with clear and cool waters perfect for swimming. The area also offers great mountain scenery perfect for a relaxing day.
6. Gissar Fort - Hisor, Tajikistan
Gissar Fort is a picturesque fortress in the Gissar Valley. The fort is located in a hill with a great Islamic-style arched doorway, flanked by two round towers.
7. Bobur Memorial Park - Uzbekistan
Bobur Memorial Park opened in 1993 to celebrate the arrival of earth brought from Babur's Kabul grave. Entombed in marble, the earth is the centrepiece of a large garden spread over a hillside Babur was fond of visiting
8. Alisher Navoi National Park - Uzbekistan
Tashkent's Alisher Navoi National Park is one of the greatest city parks in the country. Covering a large park, a large lake, canals and fountains, a meadow and ornamental flower gardens, there’s a good chance you’ll forget you are right in the center of Tashkent.
9. St. Alexander Nevsky's Cathedral - Siberia, Russia
St. Alexander Nevsky's Cathedral is the Orthodox Cathedral in Novosibirsk, Siberia, Russia. It is one of the first stone constructions in Novonikolayevsk. The church was built in Neo-Byzantine architectural style in 1896–1899. The building design was influenced by the design of Church of Our Lady the Merciful in St.Petersburg built a few years earlier.
10. Ulan-Ude Ethnographic Museum - Siberia, Russia
The museum opened on July 6, 1973 and is one of the largest open air museums in Russia, covering an area of 37 hectares. The museum has collected more than 40 architectural monuments and the museums collection exceeds 11,000 exhibits. One of the first pieces in the museum's collection was Nikolsk Church from the town of Nikolsk.
