Another well-known aspect of Asian culture is food. Or, let's say the different traditions of Asian cuisine and cooking. Here are some foods that Asians are really proud of.
1. Siu Mai from China
Siu Mai is a type of traditional Chinese dumpling served as dim sum. It is also referred to as "pork and mushroom dumpling." Its standard filling consisting primarily of ground pork, small whole or chopped shrimp, Chinese black mushroom, green onion and ginger with seasonings of Chinese rice wine e.g. Shaoxing rice wine, soy sauce, sesame oil and chicken stock. Bamboo shoots, water chestnuts and pepper can also be added. The outer covering is made of a thin sheet of lye water dough.
2. Tendon from Japan
Tendon is crisp tempura laid over a bed of rice, covered in a delicious light soy dressing and makes a great evening meal.
3. Bindaetteok from Korea
Bindaetteok is a Korean style pancake. It is made of ground mung beans, with green onions, kimchi, or peppers cooked in a frying pan.
4. Khuushuur from Mongolia
Khuushuur is a kind of meat pastry or dumpling popular in Mongolia, similar to Russian and other cuisines' chiburekki. The meat, either beef or mutton, is ground up and mixed with onion (or garlic), salt and other spices.
5. Pork Geng from Taiwan
Pork geng is a thick soup with tofu and surimi-coated pork.
